Crepe-dentelles

French Crêpes Dentelle at Home – Thin, Crunchy & Irresistible!

Introduction

creCrêpes dentelle are ultra-thin, crispy lace crêpes—they’re trickier than regular crepes, but your ingredients are actually perfect for a simplified version

🥞 Crispy Crêpes Dentelle (Lace Crepes)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 60g flour
  • 60g sugar
  • 60g melted butter
  • 60g “2 egg” whites (use whole eggs if you prefer, but whites give more crispiness)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 60g water or milk (pantry item)
  • Pinch of salt (pantry item)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare batter
    • In a bowl, whisk egg whites with sugar until slightly frothy (not stiff).
    • Add melted butter and vanilla.
    • Mix in flour and salt.
    • Add water/milk gradually until you get a very thin, runny batter (almost like cream).
  2. Rest the batter
    • Let it sit for 10–15 minutes (helps texture).
  3. Cook the crepes
    • Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat.
    • Lightly grease with butter.
    • Pour a very small amount of batter and spread it extremely thin (this is key).
    • Cook until golden and lacy (2–3 minutes).
  4. Shape quickly
    • While still hot, roll them immediately (like cigars) or shape as desired—they harden fast!
  5. Cool & crisp
    • Let them cool completely—they’ll become crispy and delicate.

🔥 Tips for Perfect Dentelle

  • The thinner the batter + layer → the crispier the result
  • Cook on low heat so they dry out instead of staying soft
  • If too soft → add a little more sugar or cook longer
  • If too thick → add more liquid

These will give you that light, crunchy “dentelle” texture, similar to the famous French biscuit-style crepes.

If you want, I can also show you how to turn these into chocolate-filled crêpes dentelle or wafer rolls 😄
